RE: Windshield Wipers

I am in need of replacing my windshield wipers as well. Are they motorhome specific like cars and trucks? I have a 2006 National Sea Breeze. I appears you have to remove a small nut to take them off. Is this normal?

RE: Flying J changes credit price on Diesel Fuel at truck pumps

With their change in policy regarding discounts, I simply do not use them unless it is convenient. Most of the time they are so crowded that it is not worth the time. I use my Bank America VISA card with points earned for all purchases. I just exchanged my points in for $500.00. I use this one card for everything including purchases at the various department stores. One card and I can track just what I am spending each month.

Mattress Replacement

We own a 2006 National Sea Breeze which has a queen size bed. It is time to replace the mattress or I will need back surgery soon. What recommendations can anyone make and where did you purchase the replacement? The only thing that appears to be an issue is the height or thickness of the mattress since it has to fit under the built in end table. I am looking for a good mattress without giving away the farm. Any information is welcome.

RE: Interesting development - Shortage of used Class "A"s??

It is just economics, previously mentioned, of supply and demand. With sales of new RV's in the toilet and used RV's, at least many of them, just sitting (certainly not mine), there will be less quality used RV's available in the next 3-4 years. Remember when everything seemed normal? Folks were trading RV's every 3-4 years for the latest and greatest. That will not be the case in the near future. Our RV will be three in April. I originally planned to trade at about year four because I would have about 40,000 miles at that time; not now. I am keeping what I have and enjoying it to the fullest.

RE: Big Bend Area November 2008

We were there two years ago the week before Thanksgiving and we had temperatures in the mid 20's for two nights. Hose froze up and used a hair dryer to thaw things out. The park is fantastic. We stayed at the Big Bend Motor Inn and RV Campground in Terlingua. Not bad and the gas station next door also has a good resturant and mini-mart. Enjoy the park. I spent a year in the Antartic. Next to that, Big Bend is the most remote I have ever been. Wonderful in November; you can hike all day and not see another person.

RE: another dealer closes

Sorry to hear about Best Buy's closing. They saved my "butt" and salvaged a year ago. I had some electrical issues and they came to the rescue. I was in Cincinnati, but they worked me in and finished everything in two days.

RE: yellowstone or grand canyon for first out west trip

We returned July 15 from a 4 1/2 month trip in the areas you are considering. We drove 7,000 miles in the motorhome and 2,000 miles in our tow car. My advice is take you time and enjoy. We did Arches and Canyonland last year and did Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Mount Rushmore, and Las Vegas this year. With 18 days, I would do the second group you mentioned. Even though Yellowstone and the Tetons are fantastic, they can be reserved for another trip.Don't rush it. We have traveled a great deal and my favorites are Arches, Zion, and Bryce. Grand Canyon is wonderful, but if you are not going to spend time hiking down in the canyon, you will be just viewing from the rims; either north or south. This is somewhat the same for Bryce. I hope this helps.

RE: Bugs on the Windsheild

RainX helps, but there is nothing that takes the real work out of removing the bugs. In Florida the Love Bugs kill us twice per year; I try not being on the road during their time. Although, RainX applied frequently really helps.

RE: Locking fuel caps

Thanks for the input on the locking gas caps. My wife and I were talking about that this morning. I mentioned I was going to purchase a locking gas cap to keep from losing fuel. After reading the various responses, I will stay with the normal cap an let them steal the fuel; better than having to replace the tank.

RE: How do you guys do it????

I had many of the same concerns when purchasing our first motorhome. We own a 36 footer and tow a Blazer. After awhile, you just get used to being aware of places you want to stop; like the Wendy's drive through's. I simply pick the nearest large parking lot, which is usually very close and walk to the Wendy's. I have had times where my judgment misled me and I had to disconnect and move the tow car and motorhome around and reconnect; just takes a little time. Happy RVing!

RE: Wow has everyone quit driving ?

We have been visiting our grandchildren for the past two months in San Antonio, but we are getting ready to leave on Sunday, 4/27, to finish up our travels in Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, and Ohio. We will not return home to Florida until mid-July. We are on the road even with high gas prices. The campground where we are staying told me that they have seen a dramatic increase in folks staying for a month at a time before moving on. Keep Focused, Pray Daily, and Stay Safe, Al

RE: Cracked Windshield

I have had to replace three panels of our front windshield (our windshield is two panels) in the past two years. One had a crack a little longer than six inches. My insurance company would do nothing but replace the windshield; they said a crack that large would continue to spread. Also, we were on a trip and would not return to home base for two months. They said watch it, if doesn't get any larger wait until you get back, if it gets larger, call and have replaced on the road. They covered 100% of all replacements.

Rain Spout Repair

I have gutter extenders attached to my rain spouts. One half of the rain spout a the gutter extender was broken off. Has anyone replaced their rain spout? Where do you find the rain spout replacement? I know the extenders can be purchased at Camping World (aka the money pit for RV owners); what about rain spouts? It looks like the rain spout is mounted behind the drip rail. I am not sure about removing the drip rail enough to install a new rain spout. Any advice would be appreciated.
